Canine Pregnancy Calendar
Your week-by-week calendar
Day-by-day view — every day of the pregnancy
Everything is calculated in your browser. The dates you enter are never sent anywhere — no signup, no account, nothing stored.
How to read your calendar
Week numbers count from the day after the first mating: that day is day 1, and day 63 is the estimated due date. The week view above gives you the shape of the whole pregnancy at a glance; the day-by-day view underneath it lists every single day with its date, so a question like “when exactly is day 45?” never needs mental arithmetic. Both views are generated from your mating date — this is a personalized canine pregnancy calendar, not a generic chart. The same dates drive the dog pregnancy calculator on our homepage.

The vet checkpoints on the calendar
- Day 21 — a relaxin blood test can confirm pregnancy from about now (relaxin is made only by the placenta).
- Day 25 — an ultrasound can confirm pregnancy and show heartbeats from about here; the best early check.
- Days 28–35 — the palpation window: a vet may be able to feel the embryo swellings by hand.
- Day 45 — fetal skeletons have calcified, so an X-ray can count the puppies reliably.
- Day 56 — start twice-daily temperature checks; the drop below 99 °F is your 12–24 hour labor warning.
- Days 58–68 — the whelping window. Day 63 is the due date; past day 68 with no labor means a call to the vet.
A sample calendar, walked through
For a first mating on Friday, August 14, 2026, the calendar reads: week 1 Aug 15–21 · week 2 Aug 22–28 · week 3 Aug 29 – Sep 4 · week 4 Sep 5–11 · week 5 Sep 12–18 · week 6 Sep 19–25 · week 7 Sep 26 – Oct 2 · week 8 Oct 3–9 · week 9 Oct 10–16. The checks land on real dates too: ultrasound from September 8, X-ray count from September 28, temperature checks from October 9, window opens October 11, due date October 16, window closes October 21.

How does the canine pregnancy calendar work?
Enter the first mating date and the calendar lays out all nine weeks — and every one of the 63 days — with real dates: when implantation happens, when each vet check falls, when to start temperature checks, and the day 58–68 whelping window. Print it and keep it with her records.
What is the day-by-day view for?
Some owners want more than weeks. The day-by-day view lists each day of the pregnancy with its date and flags the milestones — day 25 for ultrasound, day 45 for an X-ray puppy count, day 56 to start temperature checks — so nothing depends on mental arithmetic.
Which day counts as day 1?
The day after the first mating. If she was mated on a Friday, Saturday is day 1, and day 63 — the estimated due date — lands nine weeks later. This is the convention the calendar, the calculator and the week-by-week chart on this site all share.
Can I use this calendar if I know the ovulation date instead?
Yes — enter the ovulation date as the start date and the calendar's day 63 becomes a tighter estimate, because 63 days from ovulation is the true anchor. For a dedicated tool with a narrower window, use the dog pregnancy calculator from ovulation.
